Know Your Rights- Immigration
English
You have constitutional rights no matter your immigration status: • DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR if an immigration officer or police is knocking on the door. • DO NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS from an immigration officer or police. You have the right to remain silent. • DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING without first speaking to a lawyer. You have the right to speak with a lawyer. • If you are outside of your home, ask the officer if you are free to leave and if they say yes, leave calmly. • If you are inside of your home, show this statement through the window: "I will not speak with you, answer your questions, or sign any documents. These are my 5th Amendment rights under the United States Constitution. I will not give you permission to enter my home unless you have a warrant that is signed by a judge and issued by a court of law. That is my 4th Amendment right under the Constitution. If you have a warrant, slide it under the door or hold it up to the window. I do not give you permission to search my belongings. This is my 4th Amendment right." |

Family Preparedness Plan
It is important for you to make a plan for the care of your children in case something happens to you. We encourage you to make a family preparedness plan so everyone understands what needs to be done in case of an emergency. This includes deciding who would take care of your children, writing down your children's medical history and needs, what your family should do if you are detained by ICE, and any other information you think will be important.
